Goddess On Earth: Women of Essex County

All events are free and open to the public.

Goddess On Earth: Women of Essex County is a 15-minute long multi-media presentation. The installation is open for viewing one hour prior to all Luna Stage events and performances through May 11th, with showings at 1 hour prior to curtain, 45 minutes prior to curtain and 30 minutes prior to curtain.
The installation is also open on select Saturday afternoons from 1pm-3pm and by appointment only on select Wednesday afternoons from 12pm-2pm. Wednesdays afternoon appointments may be made by calling 973-395-5551 Tues.-Fri. from 10am-3pm. No appointment is necessary for Saturday hours. Admission to the installation is free.

Luna Stage is proud to present Goddess on Earth, award winning photographer Lisa Levart's ongoing multi-media installation that celebrates the strength and self-esteem of contemporary women and girls by photographing them portraying ancient archetypes and sacred myths.

The Project has been seen in a variety of venues across America and has included such well known women as Isabel Allende (author), Olympia Dukakis (actress), Nomfundo Walaza (CEO of Desmond Tutu Peace Trust), Gloria Feldt (former CEO Planned Parenthood/founder - Take the Lead) and Kathy Eldon (founder - Creative Visions).

Goddess On Earth: Women Of Essex County will feature images from Levart's award winning book "Goddess on Earth, Portraits of the Divine Feminine," (GOLD Nautilus Book Award in 2012) plus newly commissioned images of three extraordinary females from our community.

Suzzanne Douglas Suzzanne Douglas is a patron of the arts and an advocate for teaching artistic expression in the educational system. As an artist/activist, her body of work displays her commitment to roles that fuse social action with art by challenging societal norms and heightening the audience’s consciousness about community and world issues. Although widely known as an actress, singer and producer, her everyday life is committed to using her gifts to empower the community. READ MORE

Cameron Boyle Cameron Boyle of Montclair is the Founder and Director of CRIANSA Connection, a charitable organization that facilitates pen pal relationships and cultural exchanges between American and Braziilan youth. As part of this work, she has spent the last ten summers, along with her children, running a summer camp program in the Brazilian fishing villages of Cumbuco and Jericoacoara.

Diana Rolanda Moise Diana Rolanda Moise is a 12-year-old 7th grade student at Liberty Middle School in West Orange. She was born in Newark but at the age of 2, moved back to her family's native county of Haiti. She had been living there for 7 years when the earthquake hit. Her family moved back to the United States. She had to struggle with language barriers and had to overcome multiple surgeries for scoliosis, but nothing has dampened her optimism and her dreams of returning to Haiti one day to help her people.

Lisa Levart

Lisa Levart (Artist, Photographer) is an award-winning photographer and frequent contributor to the Huffington Post, where her blogs explore the intersection between art, the divine feminine, women's empowerment and current issues. Her book, "Goddess on Earth, Portraits of the Divine Feminine," won the GOLD Nautilus Book Award in 2012. Goddess on Earth is also a traveling, multi-media installation which has been seen in a variety of venues across America including; art galleries, community centers, malls, women's conferences, spirituality centers and more. Lisa's photographs have appeared in numerous publications including Fast Company, New York Magazine, Oprah Magazine, Time Magazine, The New York Times and The Washington Post, and been featured in exhibitions worldwide including The Kiek de Kok Photography Museum, Tallin, Estonia; Gallery Verita, Tokyo, Japan; The Alternative Museum, The Burden Gallery and Art in General, of New York City; and Riverspace, Nyack, New York.
