A Perfect Ganesh by Terrence McNally

Directed by James Glossman
A quest for meaning in their lives leads two outwardly unremarkable middle-aged women on a rousing tour of India, each one having her own secret dreams of what the fabled land of intoxicating opposites will do for the suffering she hides within. Faced with the women's despair, who but the golden elephant god could intervene? Fluid in his power to assume any guise, at peace with all things, Ganesha is the spiritual center around which the play spins itself, drawing upon the tragic and the comic, the beautiful and the deplorable, until a breathtaking release arrives for both women at his hands.

MONA HENNESSY is thrilled to be back at Luna Stage! She was last seen here as Virginia Woolf in Vita and Virginia. Prior to that, she served for four years as Luna's Managing Director, facilitating the company's move to The Valley Arts District. Mona is first and foremost an actress (member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA) who has worked primarily in New Jersey's regional professional theatres. Among her favorite roles (besides Virginia Woolf) are: Winnie in Happy Days (Garage Theatre), Mrs. Alving in Ghosts and Ella in Little Beasts (Luna Stage), as well as Katharine in A Perfect Ganesh, which she previously performed with 12 Miles West. Mona co-developed and directed, with Jane Mandel, an original theatre piece called The American Project, which toured throughout New Jersey schools. She also toured for many years with the wonderful Pushcart Players, and performed throughout the country and even in Terezin, Czech Republic in the company's Holocaust remembrance play, The Last...Butterfly. Most recently, Mona was seen in The Theatre Project/What Exit's One-Act Festival. As always, she gives love and thanks to her wonderful family (which now includes three adorable grandchildren!).
