Readings Production History

Due to a substantial increase in submissions, we have revised our submission policies and guidelines.  We have taken great care in attempting to find the right balance that will allow us to continue to be open to new voices from all backgrounds and career levels, while still maintaining a reasonable workload for our staff and a respectful turn around time. Please review these guidelines very carefully before submitting.  If the guidelines are not adhered to, we can not guarantee that your script will be reviewed. Thank you for your interest in and support of our efforts to bring powerful new works to the stage.

ABOUT US

At Luna Stage, we wish to nurture excellence in playwriting, in all phases of development. We are interested in works by diverse voices that have clearly been written for the stage, as opposed to other mediums. We look for well-told stories, in all shapes and configurations. We are attracted to writing that has a depth and a texture in its language and characters, and/or a novel use of structure. We produce material of all genres, but look for work that transcends its immediate story to resonate with audiences on many levels.

Please review Luna Stage’s production history prior to submitting to get a sense of what type of work we tend to produce, and to gage whether or not your work might be a good match for us. Luna Stage has two intimate black box theatres, seating 99 and 50 people respectively. Each season, we hold one or two New Moon Play Reading Series, from which we often select work for production in our upcoming seasons.

HOW TO SUBMIT

Luna Stage accepts unsolicited scripts from September 15th through April 15th (postmark date). Please limit your submission to one script per season, unless additional materials are specifically requested. We do not accept electronic submissions.

We accept two types of submission packages:

1. If you are currently represented by an agent (not a manager or a lawyer, etc.., but a theatrical agent), hold a MFA in playwriting, or are enrolled in an MFA playwriting program, please follow these guidelines for submission:

PLEASE NOTE: playwrights with agent representation are welcomed, and even encouraged, to submit their work on their own. The scripts do not need to come from the agent, or be bound in the agency’s materials.  Just indicate the name and contact information of your agent on the script or in your cover letter.

Submissions should include hard copies of the following materials:

2. If you are NOT currently represented by a theatrical agent, hold a MFA in playwriting, or are enrolled in an MFA playwriting program, we are still very interested to familiarize ourselves with your work.
Please follow these guidelines for submission:

Submissions should include hard copies of the following materials:

Please expect to hear back from us within 3-6 months.  We thank you in advance for your patience.
