In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, adults will develop skills in Musical Theatre performance including vocal technique and character-based song interpretation. Students will be introduced to a a diversity of rehearsal tools and techniques to develop a dynamic and authentic performance of Broadway and/or Pop Rock repertoire. A final performance will showcase everyone’s work.
Designed equally for beginning actors and actors with experience, this intensive class provides a nurturing atmosphere in which participants learn to free the power of their imaginations and gain a better understanding of the actor's journey when creating a role. The class starts with a review of basic acting skills and quickly progresses through improvisations, exercises, cold readings, and script analysis to acting monologues and scenes from theatre and film. Directors and playwrights who want a better knowledge of the actor's process may find this course valuable as well.

Whether you've written a pile of plays, or you're contemplating your very first one, or writing a play has always been on your bucket list; there are no two ways about it. First drafts are hard! But there are practical tools that we can enlist to unlock your creativity, turn off your inner editor, and demystify the process of breaking story. Through writing exercises, practical guidance from a professional theater writer who has seen many first drafts through to their "final" product, and most especially community, this course will provide structure and guidance from standing on the blank white precipice to the satisfaction of writing the most satisfying phrase in the English language: END OF PLAY.
