The Frontera Project brings Mexican and US artists together in a unique, bi-lingual, interactive performance experience. Fusing theater, movement, music and play, this dynamic piece engages the audience in a compassionate, often joyous conversation about the Border that lifts up the kinds of human stories that too often get lost in the noise of partisan agendas and media bubbles. The Frontera Project - with its specific focus on Tijuana/San Diego - celebrates the richness, complexity and humanity of Fronterizo life.

From Jessica Bauman,

Co-Conceiver/Director

"The Frontera Project" started with the desire to tell different stories about the Border - stories that lift up the humanity of people who build their lives in this complicated and sometimes contradictory territory. Migration is certainly part of the story, but it is not the whole story. We use text, movement, music, video and audience engagement to create a mosaic of life at the Border, where stories of everyday life can reveal something profound about our deepest values and our common humanity.

"The Frontera Project" was created through numerous workshops, both live and on Zoom. Our company of artists from Tijuana and San Diego explored personal stories,  and unpacked political posturing and cliches of the Border to create this unique theatrical experience. The audience is at the center of "The Frontera Project" - we are thrilled to bring this intimate and joyous conversation about life at the Border to Luna Stage.

From Ramón Verdugo,

Co-Conceiver/Director

We are so thrilled to continue in-person performance in collaboration with incredible partners!
