Support Luna Stage

Dear Friends,

We are so thankful for all we have shared together in these past months. We are excited for all that is to come in 2024, and would be deeply grateful for your ongoing support of our programs!

2023 saw so many thrilling collaborations, as Luna commissioned and produced powerful new plays that engaged the most pressing issues of our time. Torn Asunder reflected the quest of formerly enslaved people to reunite with lost loved ones in the years after emancipation, and played to sold-out houses. Twelve playwrights collaborated on the site-specific The Ground On Which We Stand, reflecting the history and legacy of Montclair's James Howe House, and Two Elizas juxtaposed stories of women's quest for bodily autonomy in the 1800's and today. Westphalia grappled with urgent challenges of artificial intelligence and immigration, and Trich invited audiences into a deeply personal journey of mental health and recovery.

We were honored to collaborate with community partners including the Montclair NAACP, Orange Orphans Society, and AAPI New Jersey to bring these stories to student audiences, touring excerpts from Torn Asunder and The Ground On Which We Stand as well as an original adaptation of novel We Are All We Have to local schools. Luna also offered classes, summer camps, and youth mentorship programs, providing arts experiences for over 2500 young people this year!

2024 promises to be just as thrilling! The Luna-commissioned RIFT or White Lies wrestles with America's political divides, and picks up where our 2022's play-over-text-message left off. A solo performance, A Trojan Woman, offers a timeless investigation into the human cost of war, and Queen of the Night celebrates Black queer male identity in a heartwarming story of family (and glamping!)

BUT...we can't do it without you. 2023 was a brutal year for theatres. Some have closed their doors permanently, others have canceled portions of their seasons.

At Luna, we are determined to survive, and to continue developing and producing the powerful new plays our world needs right now. And we are committed to equity and access. All Luna Stage programs, productions and classes are pay-what-you-choose to ensure that everyone has access to the stories we tell.

We look forward to seeing you at the theatre!
